Interests / Activities:
I began writing music at a very young age and by the age of 10 was using sample based loop software and midi software, like Cubase VST. By the age of 12 i had began recording audio and started using Reason and Cool Edit Pro (now called Adobe Audition), finishing my first original album at the age of 13. I continue to create and record music both on my home set up and at various studios around Nottingham.
For a few years, starting when I was 14, I ran a mildly successful website called The Notts Metal Scene which was a music hosting and community website for metal music in Nottinghamshire. I had to close it when i couldn't afford hosting costs. I currently help run the internet music collective CLLCT.
Another interest of mine is creating small but useful tools for music, for example I have made a midi controller called “the Box of Infinite Joy” which is a 3 Midi CC unit with interchangeable input controls, allowing you to choose from 3 light sensors, a 3 axis accelerometer or 3 standard knobs or any other simple control.
Skills / Other Information:
I am very computer literate and have used Mac OSX, Windows and various versions of Linux. I have an understanding of web design and can code in C, PHP, HTML and Flash Action script.
When recording music, I have used and understand Apple Logic, Propellerheads Reason, Steinberg Cubase, Avid Protools, Image-Line FL Studio, Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge, Celemony Melodyne among other software. I have a comprehensive knowledge of microphone types and placements, both standard and alternative. Instruments I play include keyboard, bass, guitar and autoharp.
I have designed posters and flyers for gigs around the country using various methods, but usually compiled in photoshop.
I also have a clean drivers licence.
